Professional Training Courses

Bassetts Transport Training delivers a quality-assured training service for drivers of Large Goods Vehicles (LGV), Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV) and Fork Lift Trucks (FLT), alongside a variety of driver development courses.

All practical on-road training is conducted on a one instructor to one trainee basis. Our Tittensor depot is approved by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) as an examination site for LGV driving tests, with a dedicated on-site manoeuvring area for training candidates and DSA Examiners.

LGV Training

Bassetts Transport Training schedules practical LGV driver training courses at a mutually agreeable time, conducted one-to-one with an experienced instructor. Our Tittensor depot is an approved DSA examination site for LGV driving tests.

  • Category C1 - vehicles 3.5t to 7.5t
  • Category C - rigid vehicles over 7.5t
  • Category CE - articulated combinations up to 44t
  • Category B+E - car and trailer combinations

PCV Training

PCV training courses normally commence from our Tittensor depot, giving candidates the full benefit of our on-site manoeuvring facilities before heading on to the road.

  • Category D1 - minibus up to 16 passenger seats
  • Category D1+E - minibus with trailer
  • Category D - full bus and coach licence

Driver CPC

To maintain their Driver CPC qualification, professional LGV and PCV drivers must complete 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years with an approved training provider. Bassetts delivers this as 5 modules of 7 hours each.

FLT Training

First Aid

Bassetts Transport Training offers Ofqual regulated First Aid training courses for businesses looking to comply with The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, or for personal development.

From car and trailer to full artic - we train across a wide range of DVLA licence categories.

C1 Goods vehicle over 3.5t but not exceeding 7.5t, with trailer not exceeding 750kg

Nick joined the Bassett’s Training team in 2024, having spent 15 years in the British Army. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and qualifications, allowing him to deliver practical driver training, and associated classroom-based courses such as Driver CPC, ADR, First Aid & Mental Health First Aid training. Nick is also a member of the National Register of LGV Instructors.

During this time he has gained accreditation as an RTITB Approved LGV Driving Instructor, a Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving (SAFED) Instructor and is registered as an LGV Instructor with the Driving Standards Agency.
